A Lebanese wine to bring in the new year – while watching football, I opened up a bottle of 2002 Chateau Musar Hochar Pere et Fils with Diane and Pedro. Located in the Bekaa valley, Chateau Musar is completely organic and produces red wine blends from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan. Hochar is their second growth and has a ton of sediment so definitely need to decant.
The wine is sweet in aroma and taste when you first open it up – almost too much so. Let it sit for a few hours and you start to get the tastes of red fruit. Medium body with a medium finish. Very different from most wines I typically drink but still enjoy it:
